Oscar Wilde’s Salome is given a new contemporary interpretation in this independent drama from director Erick Ifergan. Also known as Hollywood Salome, most of Johnny 316 was shot in 1998, but the film was not completed until 2006.

I enjoyed the 35mm murky haze of 90s Los Angeles; plus, some of the shots can be beguiling and kinda inspired. That aside, this is a weird film where Gallo pretty much plays himself, Nina Bosh is awful and the story is (apparently) a take on Oscar Wilde's play "Salome" - it's too incomprehensible to notice. 2.5
