Ratings & Reviews

  1. msmichel's rating of the film Ju-on: The Curse

The video nasty made for television (!!) that kickstarted the long running series. Shimizu even with a limited budget and a minimalist story provided some fresh air to a stagnant genre with these initial films.

  2. Ana Luísa's rating of the film Ju-on: The Curse

Skip the remakes, they were a joke! Even if Shimizu directed them, there's this weight of japanese folklore - what's it with the cats, really? - that seems... kind of impossible to translate into another culture. The american actors/language get in the way of this 'feeling'. About Ju-on: the curse: This one is actually horrifying if watched between 2 and 3 a.m... at least in my experience.

  6. s1gh6's rating of the film Ju-on: The Curse

It's japanese in much. Made in traditional form of short stories like Akutagawa Ryunosuke. And remind me his stories about ghosts. But not geniusly, certainly.
