Juan Moreira Directed by Leonardo Favio

Critics reviews

Juan Moreira is a lush, episodic historical drama, and is Favio’s first color film. The charismatic Rodolfo Bebán plays the title character, and Favio shoots him fetishistically—in intense, urgent close-ups, often with sweat and/or blood running down his face or his body—Piñeiro’s press notes liken the film to a Spaghetti Western… For Piñeiro, what registers is that the highly stylized Juan Moreira is a modernist take on naturalism.
