A cracking tense thriller, above average of the glut of disaster films which were so prolific around that time. I was particularly impressed by the miserable, cold and unforgiving weather conditions at sea, making it an offen uncomfortable watch. This was offset well by Lester's unique style of humour, allowing some lighter moments. Worth a watch.
Juggernaut worked for me. A thriller that is character driven, rather than action driven. I'll never forget a knackered, red faced Roy Kinnear shouting his way through "Roll Out the Barrel" to an unimpressed audience. I have rarely felt so bad for a fictional character. Brilliant bending of the thriller genre.
This makes Irwin Allen look like a pornographer. It's not the best thing ever made, but it's got real, recognizable people in them. I enjoyed watching Lester's calm gaze on all the dozens of stars at play. Although they are all actually acting, which is more than you can say for Steve McQueen in Towering Inferno.
