  • HKFanatic's rating of the film Karate Kill

Hats off to "Gun Woman" director Kurando Mitsutake, who indubitably knows how to stretch a dollar. Here he takes the template of 'martial arts-practicing warrior travels to a distant land to rescue someone and kick ungodly amounts of ass' a la "Ong Bak," and injects it with a "Fudoh"-era Takashi Miike level of gonzo weirdness. The resulting film is a visceral and violent slab of grindhouse homage that actually works.
