Ratings & Reviews

  1. ejonline's rating of the film My Face Red in the Sunset

This film's also known as "Killers on Parade." It addresses societal issues in broad terms, mixing critiques of corporate corruption and cultural decay. Each of the hired killers seems to symbolize some problematic element of society, sometimes far too obviously. The first time I saw one hit man running around the city dressed like a US football player I laughed, but like the movie, over time it became less amusing.

  2. Christopher M. Jones's rating of the film My Face Red in the Sunset

delightfully daft; beats Seijun Suzuki at his own game much of the time

  3. Andrew Miller's rating of the film My Face Red in the Sunset

Stylistically exciting, but lacks the bite of early Oshima.

  4. Henri de Corinth's rating of the film My Face Red in the Sunset

Absurd and misanthropic, and yet made as if it were a gaudy children’s movie. Original screenplay by Shuji Terayama (!). I wonder if Étienne Roda-Gil ever saw this...

  5. john barry bornstein's rating of the film My Face Red in the Sunset

  6. Rrreeeiiiddd's rating of the film My Face Red in the Sunset

It was impossible for me to not enjoy this! An eclectic, colorful, fast-paced, fantasy I didn't at all expect from Shinoda. A film to watch on any day.
