Decent 40s melodrama, but not anything to write home about. Suffers from some bad acting at times, especially from Cummings. You know its rough when Reagan comes close to stealing the movie as a supporting player. Sheridan is solid as usual though. Just a really odd story, not sure I'd recommend it unless you are big fan of Sheridans like I and try to catch a lot of her performances.
I completely misunderstood this one: firstly I was convinced that there was an incestuous relation between Cassandra and her father, hence the murder and the suicide, and then, when I saw Robert Cummings kissing Ronald Reagan who had just lost both legs, I said to myself: "There's plenty of gay subtext here!". But, you see, Kings Row is a film about the beginnings of psychoanalysis in the USA so be lenient. Thx.
