Best friends Frank and Casper embark on a sex tour turned canoeing trip with 12-year-old Bo in tow. This marked the first feature-length escapade spun from the popular Danish sitcom of the same name. Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen have a deranged repertoire that they've developed over the years. The inappropriate hijinks are hilarious and shocking even if this ultimately feels like an episode spread too thin.
It started slowly at first but when it found it's stride. I couldn't stop laughing. I will admit it's humor is dark and a bit sick. It is always entertaining. Not only get it's laughs from awkward situations and humor, but just from the general over the top attitude in a calm normal setting. Not visionary filmmaking but not a bad film in the least. Especially since all the elements come together to make a good film
There are a few moments made funny by their audacity, but audacity has a short shelf life. Otherwise, the movie is completely inconsequential, with poorly-written sitcom characters who behave according to setup-punchline mechanics in a world devoid of meaningful consequences. Perhaps it is different for others, but for me it seemed mean-spirited toward both its characters and its audience. I tried to like it, but no.
Klown has been described as edgy, funny, and offensive. This is incorrect. It is unfunny, harmless, and deeply idiotic, like most American mainstream comedies eg American Pie). Ultimately, a ninety minutes spot for Underberg. If you are looking for something edgy, funny, and offensive, google Hugleikur Dagsson. No, he's not a film director. Even the original Danish TV series is bland. "Peep Show" (UK) is much better.
