Effectively and joyously ridiculous. Cruise plays the unflappably cool spy with aplomb. Diaz plays the the girl caught in his wake with verve and humor. Amazingly, they make this ridiculous, delirious movie work. The CGI bulls, on the other hand; if you can't do it well, cut it out. They were obviously no threat to the actors but they did serious damage to the movie.
Surprisingly underrated action comedy that benefits from the presence of the also underrated Diaz and the always exceptional Viola Davis. Cruise is utterly coasting here and Sarsgaard one-dimensionally sinister, yet something in the first half just grabs and pleases with its willingness to not take itself too seriously.
