La Camioneta - The Journey of One American School BusDirected byMark Kendall
Kendall's decision to use a school bus as a veil for his goals to explore Guatemala's socioeconomic state is a thin one, often left aside for the sake of essentially performing an anthropological study on the people of Guatemala. There's definitely an interesting short doc about social issues in Guatemala within this feature, but it's hidden behind a guise of buses and poetic visuals that are plain unnecessary.
Interesting doc follows one school bus after it is purchased from an auction and transported to Guatemala for use in public transportation. The bus' journey ends up just being a tool for exploring social unrest and issues at work in South America, but it's certainly interesting to watch the transformation the bus goes through as it begins a new life in a different world.
