A great Norwegian silent film. But the music, based on - of course - Edvard Grieg's music, is really horrible an badly played.

  5. Tom Dorow's rating of the film Laila

LAILA ist more interesting as an anthropological film about northern Norwegian culture clashes than as an old school melodrama. It features amazing landscape shots, traditional costumes and customs and gives a good impression of what life was like in the north before electricity made life easier, if not necessarily less lonely. The racial conflict between indigenous Sami and Daro is an interesting theme.

  6. Bernardo Anderson's rating of the film Laila

A wonderful and sentimental film about a girl being adopted into another family, yet wanting to stay true to who she was. Beautiful cinematography and touching story.

I really think Schneevoight should be more known here in the states when it comes to silent Scandinavian directors. This film was awesome! it was beautifully shot and the story line glued me in. I hope to find more of his work because Laila was wonderful.

  9. Vaxdockan's rating of the film Laila
