Perhaps the most famous of puzzle films, this is a time-warping, space-shifting drama of fantasy and memory from Left Bank auteur Alain Resnais. Inspired by Hitchcock, Last Year at Marienbad dares to experiment with disjunctive chronology while expressively fusing the past with the present.
