Oh this movie haunted me. I didnt expect to be so brutal like this. You may expect some sweetness in WWW movies when there are kids on it, but this one gets a dark level,as you ve never seen before. And shows how war can destroy even the child s innocence.
Impressive in it's fresh and poetic approach to a musing on violence, cruelty and survival A nagy füzet is at times difficult to watch but provides much food for thought. I found the digital aesthetic and CG effects disconnecting from the reality but was pleasantly surprised by some of the later narrative turns in particular with Grandma. Worth a watch. 3.5 stars
TIFF '13 Violent, haunting and stomach churning tale directed by Janos Szasz that equals or tops his exceptional oeuvre including 'Woyzeck' and 'The Witman Boys'. Twins sent to live out the war with their unloving grandmother decide to subject themselves to pain, hunger and eventual murder in order to survive. An easy watch it is not but does cut down to the basest of human beings....survival at all costs.
