Awesome mise en scene and usage of space. Literally anyone with a pair of eyes will be able to understand this.

How the hell did Scoresse get the inspiration of King of Comedy from this? I didn't see the similarities . :/

  4. Rafael Fonseca's rating of the film Life of an American Fireman

a little too much of the horses & carriages eh? the intro dream and famous repetition/perspective game at the end are crazy tho (apparently later versions were edited to match the cuts with continuity?)

  6. Kelvin Thompson's rating of the film Life of an American Fireman

Worthwhile for the daydream and the two perspectives of the rescue.

  7. filmcapsule's rating of the film Life of an American Fireman

Two consecutive versions of the same event might seem stranger than parallel editing at first, but it simply privileges the temporal unity of each location. In fact, parallel editing implies simultaneity through its very opposite: sequence. It places shots one after the other, and yet we read them as occurring simultaneously.

  8. AKFilmFan's rating of the film Life of an American Fireman

Wonderful if only for the beginning daydream and the two perspectives of the final rescue.
