  1. Diderot's rating of the film Little Stabs at Happiness

Movies like this only expand in beauty through the passage of time, perhaps even because what's captured is so minor, everyday, and banal.

  4. Brandon Nowalk's rating of the film Little Stabs at Happiness

"Orchard Street" isn't on Mubi, but what a stunning city (well, street) symphony. This one is the opposite, a very stylized fiction. Guess I should read about it, but the film itself hardly compels me to. Acquired taste, indeed.

  5. Dale Wittig's rating of the film Little Stabs at Happiness

Ken Jacob's short masterpiece presents his former friends at play; playing for his camera and each other. It's a film of great formal beauty, not least in the finale with Jack Smith as Harlequin. It speaks of the fragility of friendships and the great beauty of making those rare connections with others. It reminds me of Mr Arkadin's Georgian Toast to Friendship in Welles' masterpiece. Here's to Friendship.
