Our take

Sparkling with the spirit of the early years of the French New Wave, Jacques Demy’s first feature dances to the iconic music of Michel Legrand and is framed with beautiful melancholy by Raoul Coutard. As Lola, the eponymous object of our affections, Anouk Aimée is wistful but spellbinding.
