Ratings & Reviews

  1. Mado Gianni's rating of the film Love Serenade

Humorous sequences and funny characters within the construction of a dry set. Yet, the film hinges to conclusions that are unnecessarily nonsensical which feels like a waste of potential.

  2. dvdlws's rating of the film Love Serenade

Probably the worst film I have watched this year. A painfully dull attempt at humour featuring uninteresting characters in stereotypical situations. Cliche after cliche as two sisters are supposed to be infatuated with a dull ugly man - cause that's all women have to do in their lives, trail after pathetic males. Surprise ending is tacked on to wake you up before the titles.

  3. dionysus67's rating of the film Love Serenade

Humorous, yes; finely acted, yes; offbeat but with interest, yes. Yet, these virtues get wasted really, first in terms of the clumsy surreal insertions into the flat proceedings. Secondly, instead of reaching heights with the mutually coordinated redemption of the three characters, what is opted instead is a fall to sexist pseudo-feminism dressed up as a critique of male ideology, ending with zombies of desire.

  4. Shahriar Khan's rating of the film Love Serenade

A reminder that Australia, for all of its monotones, once had quirk and individuals of great character.

  6. nica's rating of the film Love Serenade

A film with humor that is perhaps too far from my personal reach, but a lovely watch anyway, and a fabulous last 10 minutes.

  7. Ingrid Bergman's rating of the film Love Serenade

Deliciously quirky Australian black comedy about 2 sisters from a small country town vying for the affections of their new next door neighbor.

Barry White will never sound the same. My fave Aussie movie, with two irresistible female performances and a good helping of mindfuck. (Shirley Barrett, please do the sequel!!!)
