Ratings & Reviews

  1. Justin Vicari's rating of the film Love's Debris

Not the most coherent of films, but nonetheless a fascinating dreamlike documentary in which divas and divos sing and also talk about what love means to them. The conversations branch off into speech, self-image, mortality, identity, a whole host of subjects. Sort of like Barthes' "A Lover's Discourse" except with opera instead of literature as its meta-subject.

  2. Marie's rating of the film Love's Debris

Possibly one of the most heart-rending documentary on opera ever made - each scene alternates with interviews with singers about their conceptions of love, death and angst. Not long at all, hesitant at times and therefore truly moving.
