A small, intimate yet powerful love story. The actresses were brilliant, the cinematography feels raw and it gives off a sense of naturalism. A film that feels very feminine, I loved it very much and I have a hunch I'll be rewatching it and loving it time and again.
Bracingly intimate, but it never lets you all the way in. That juxtaposition of awkwardness and electricity is what drives the drama, and it's acheived by letting these two amazing actresses do what they do best.
Loose, improvised and real; compliments and criticisms both. The film acheives exactly what it set out to do, but its ambitions are limited by the approach.
So Yong Kim has a gift with her actors. She is able to tell her stories visually through the naturalism and raw emotion of the performances. It's a sight to behold and regardless of the film's structural issues, it contains rich visuals, powerful performances, and wordless exchanges make up for the script's faults. Keep your eyes out for the Ferris-wheel scene... sublime. A beautiful film.
