Structured somewhat like a Shakespearean comedy, though the characters are more extreme, and more typically French. Love makes fools of us all! Great cinematography and production design. I have never been disappointed by a Gremillon film! 4.2*
Very silly and obvious melodrama with dull characters wrestling with love troubles. As if the movie hadn't been bad enough up until that point, the final (cough) tragedy comes in the wee hours of the morning after a party: six people in a car, the guy who's so drunk he can barely stand insists he be the one to drive them down winding narrow unlit mountain roads, they all unhesitatingly agree. Bad stuff, man.
