Ratings & Reviews

  1. Noli Manaig's rating of the film Lunch Break

As much as structural film can be fascinating, Lockhart's instrumentalization of its conventions borders on self-indulgence. Its conceit, a 78-minute plan-séquence, a slow-mo dolly shot of workers on a break, overstays its welcome in a matter of minutes. My guess is that this is about dehumanization or reification of labor. If so, better to read Lukacs or the Frankfurt School, or Lefebvre on work and leisure.

  2. Hani's rating of the film Lunch Break

I found the slow motion of the film imposing a dramatic sense and distracting from watching and experiencing the lunch break with these workers. I liked the slow track in (Dolly) and the sound design.

  3. Fabio Espejo's rating of the film Lunch Break

Warning: Drone cinema. An infinite industrialized path, where future present and past co-exist at the same time.

  4. Zachary Phillip Brailsford's rating of the film Lunch Break

Discovery through depth, distance, motion, and slowness. This movie gave me one of the most astonishing journeys I've had watching a film. It serves as a key to all movies, in how everything is revealed to us through cinematic technique. Savvy
