Director obviously has a crush on Jean Pierre-Jeunet and his visual style, not to mention his musical style and penchant for quirky, observational moments. While Lust For Life is enjoyable at 9 min & each shot is beautifully framed, you get the sense you're watching an Amelie fanfilm. Every Jeunet trick is here: odd girl with red-striped shirt and Tautou-inspired fringe, accordion soundtrack, coffee shops.
This short is beautifully filmed in France with subtitles. The storyline is multi layered as it seems at first glance to be about a lover who is having a hard time moving on from a breakup. The details are subtle allowing the viewer to watch closely and find many treasures in the film. The music is eloquent and the actresses are gorgeous.
