An interesting debut from Sheldon Candis, Luv has a solid first act that explores masculinity in the black community pretty well. Candis keeps me invested in those themes for most of the film before the screenplay shortcomings and unconvincing scenarios start to pop up. Common and Michael Rainey Jr. give notable performances, while the cinematography and editing serve the film well making it a relatively easy watch.
This is one of the few projects where Common is the leading actor and once again he proves that he can act quite good, even when he is in the spotlight.
The movie has a first act strong enough to keep you locked down but unfortunelly the ending is so bad ... it could have been way way better.
i liked the way Common threw some wisdom and some gangster shit and always looking sharp.
