This slasher classic follows six counselors working at a summer camp. After hearing the tale of a local psycho who murdered his family and who will supposedly appear if someone calls his name, a cocky preteen tempts fate by doing just that.
This film is not currently playing on MUBI but 30 other great films are. See what's now showing
Holy Smoke. They played this on IFC recently. The acting is so atrocious I literally rolled under the coffee table laughing. The "monster" is a cross between Uncle Jessie and the Abominable Snowman from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reaindeer. Most people wont make it past the Grade-Z opening credits.
Here's the deal - if Ti West directed this now people would be saying shit like "fantastic throwback" & everything else he constantly strives for; but this isn't the case, this is the real thing - kids in the woods, talking shit, making out, then getting killed off. Yeah, the production is cheap, and the soundtrack is....special, but everything still works in the end.
