Even if it's not very engaging, there IS more beyond the controversy surrounding it nowadays. It's like a bad dream; the situation, location, music, and age of the actors lending it a surreal tone. A sad tale of the impossibility of innocence to be eternal, of a perceived ever increasing perversion of childhood in the modern age, and the naivety involved in wanting to grow up too fast.
This movie could have been done well...but it's just a bad movie that got attention because of the controversy surrounding it. I personally think this movie is almost unwatchable...the "acting" is terrible, the cinematography is only sub-par (which is odd because the actual location of the film is stunning...) I found the whole experience tiresome and boring, actually i don't think i even finished
