At one point I thought that I was going to hate this film because the Michel character is frustratingly despicable. But overall I thought it was a masterpiece that deserves more recognition. The story could be better, but it is still a technical masterpiece in which each shot is divine.
3.5. Many of the location exteriors were thoughtful and lovely, especially among the megaliths, but the fundamentalist morality was so entrenched in a sturm-und-drang vein that I lost interest with the possibility of redemption or damnation for the Breton Johnny Rotten, his saintly sister, mum or pop. Too over the top for this sinner.
