  4. Alexis Feix's rating of the film Man's Gentle Love

  5. David Grillo's rating of the film Man's Gentle Love

Cinema as it connects to life a man lives in a novel and the camera films whats in-between.

  6. Warren Spratley's rating of the film Man's Gentle Love

An incredibly rich study of Platonic philosophy, the transient in relation to the eternal, forms & metaphysics: there are strengths in every scene of this movie, ideas crystalized cinematically. The recurring non-diagetic music--mimicked diagetically in one crucial scene early on--is so sincere in its reflection of sacredness, an idea which Civeyrac pursues relentlessly throughout. Oh,how it aestheticizes human form!

  7. http://letterboxd.com/James_'s rating of the film Man's Gentle Love

the DV may say mumblecore, but the dissolves insist Eustache. Civeyrac invents a doomed romance worthy of Mizoguchi and then crumples it with the simplest of strokes, upsetting without spoiling the film's diegetic reality while expanding the scope of its implications. on paper, it could easily be trite, but in the film it has the effect of an incisive rebuke.
