    Clara Bow is a delightful presence on screen even when her character is frustrating, infuriating, and self-centered. The rest of the cast supports her well enough, but no one competes with her luminous presence. The story was much less predictable than I anticipated from the title A refreshing, lesser known silent comedy.

    Victor Fleming’s dazzling up-ending of Wedekind’s PANDORA’S BOX — here Lulu is Clara Bow, who banishes all neurosis and madness and murder and suicide with the pure joy of her existence, and everybody lives happily ever basking in her magical, infuriating, delightful presence. Delicious.
