Rocky Dennis was one good teenager for whom we all almost had to accept for who he looks like & had to inspire us. At least, there were some solid performances by a little fine cast and a great soundtrack the film featured.

Watched a long time ago. And I did like it. Cannot remember a single scene, though. Just images, with no dialoguges. I remember the way the lead character moved and dressed, and not much else. And remember him talking to his mother, Cher. Have no idea if my 3 stars would survive rewacthing it.

An excellent film! Without Bogdanovich it would have been one of those terrible TV of the week movies. He finds the heart and soul in the story and shows his cast and crew the way. Great acting too!

of course the film is overly-sentimental but cher's performance is phenomenal. i don't think people give her enough credit...the cannes jury wasn't shitting around when they gave her best actress for this.
