  1. Jaspar Lamar Crabb's rating of the film McLintock!

If John Ford had directed a Disney movie...

  2. msmichel's rating of the film McLintock!

Fun quaint Wayne vehicle reteaming him with Maureen O'Hara in this somewhat veiled version of 'The Taming of the Shrew'. Somehow its charm overcomes the blatant misogyny even if its ending message seems to be a good woman just needs a good spanking now and then to keep her in line. A relic but an enjoyable one that one must suspend any feminist notion temporarily to watch.

  3. Matthew_Lucas's rating of the film McLintock!

One of John Wayne's most bizarre films, this farcical western adaptation of Shakespeare's TAMING OF THE SHREW casts Wayne as a cattle baron whose estranged wife returns with their daughter in order to procure a divorce. Blithe misogyny and casual racism make the the film something of an interesting relic. The mud hole brawl is a hoot, but the film is uneven.
