Ratings & Reviews

  1. Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Men and Wolves

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film Men and Wolves

Une œuvre fort émouvante, aux somptueux décors naturels, traversée d'un puissant souffle mélodramatique qui restera longtemps dans les mémoires...

  3. Neither/Nor's rating of the film Men and Wolves

For a few glorious moments in the climax, all the subtext is effaced and the film is stripped to brutal symbolism of the resistenza. These moments emerge like war. But the rest: neorealism at its pinkest and most Hollywood, with a stunningly overdetermined romance that reconciles the borders of classism out of the death of Italian facism, oddly represented by Mexican actor Armendáriz. Mangano's legs do not appear.
