30 hand picked films. A new one every day
one of never less than my top five movies all time. goddamned near perfect gangster & noir at same time.
You're exactly as big as I let you be and no bigger, and don't forget it ever!
Coen bros: What role do you want to have, Sam?
Sam Raimi: Don't care. I just want to shoot people, is all.
Coen bros: Niceeee.
Il Conformista meets The Third Man but in a shitty way
"Nobody knows anybody. Not that well." 4+
Miller's Crossing to me, is one of the greatest examples of simplicity and elegance paired with traditional elements Coen off-beatness. The more I've watched it the more it's grown on me.
"What's the rumpus?"
Style with very little substance.
In my own opinion, the greatest film by the Coen brothers, a jewel
Awful. Ironically aping the great noir films of the 30s is tricky and for me this doesn't work.
"Nobody knows anybody. Not that well."
Technically good, but pretty meh otherwise.
"I want me hat"
Maybe my favourite by the Cohen brothers
great cast, but a weak story. nothing unexpected, nothing original.
One of my all time favorite Coen Brothers films and one of the best gangster films ever made. Gabriel Byrne is extremely badass in this film as he just tries to keep his hat.
If only for the scene in which Albert Finney turns into a superhero with a Tommy Gun, this film is worth the watch. But the rest is good to.
