Our take

Based on a text by 20th century writer Jun’ichirō Tanizaki, Miss Oyu is an elegant, gorgeously shot melodrama from Japanese master Kenji Mizoguchi. Featuring a lasting performance from Mizoguchi’s muse Tanaka Kinuyo, the film fondly experiments with the rules of the love triangle.
