    A perhaps overlooked masterpiece of the fantasy genre and of cinema elegance in general. Kumel homages Von Sternberg in the opening titles, and themes here are also reminiscent of Resnais and Bergman, The individual disgused as a man lives a drama that is hinted to have become unfathomable, scarily eternal, it was surprising to learn the story is based on the real life of a woman
