Ratings & Reviews

  1. A.B. II: The Return's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

This film has a lot of predictable gags (since they mostly revolve around a single premise) and it does drag during some of the longer sequences. But, as an Old Hollywood light comedy, it has a lot of charm and there are many laughs to be had. Grant, Loy, and Douglas are always enjoyable presences on the screen, and they do a lot to make this film as fun as it is. It's a pleasant film, even if it's not a great one.

  2. Thomas's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

Disappointing, not a film of merit for anyone involved.

  3. Eric Rucker's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

Careful what you wish for, Hollywood, because you tend to get it. They could facilitate real art and rake in mad piles of cash like the Medicis but would rather bleed money for pap. Too smart to realize how dumb they are.

  4. le Gars's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

  5. SpacePirate's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

a very underrated comedy. 4.5 stars.

  6. ExperimentoFilm's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

I could have done without Melvyn Douglas' narration. Otherwise, a classic gentle observational comedy. H.C. Potter should get more respect.

  7. Joseph Judge's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

Disliking this because it's not screwball, which of course it isn't because it's from 1948, is sort of maddening.

  8. MarcH's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

Loy specifying paint colors...one of her finest moments on film.

  9. oldfilmsflicker's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

Anyone expecting a screwball comedy is going to be disappointed, but this is a fantastic satire.

  10. Sabrina Crews's rating of the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

Myrna Loy plus Cary Grant automatically equals a screwball, right? Wrong. Disappointing!
