This movie is tonally all over the place, and the main character is at times cringe inducing almost to the point of being unlikable. However, the movie's positivity in combination with my antidepressants made me euphorically happy afterwards. Noel Wells's facial reactions to literally everything made me laugh out loud.
Entertaining enough story about a good person 'with bad execution' which rises to a momentary crescendo when Emily yells 'it's just a f**** cat' which encapsulates so perfectly her justified irritation at the pious, socially mediated, uncaring concern of those who never knew the cat and personal grief that she has in fact so many other issues to address in her own life.
2.5 - Although enjoyable and funny, this film falls into the typical comedy/romantic comedy traps. A cute and unique story, but it leaves you feeling like you might have seen this elsewhere by the end.
