In a genre overrun by movies trying too hard to be "so bad they're good", emulating films of the past that were genuinely good because of how bad they were, it's hard to find horror that successfully blends itself with comedy. In this, a group of NYC hipsters trying to conceptualize a murder on Halloween, and it manages to be absolutely hilarious and fun. Great gore, too.
Equal parts genius and totally stupid. I've been watching Saulnier's films and sincerely expected way more of his debut. He does a pretty good job directing a no budget horror-comedy, but the script is not half as funny as it thinks it is and the whole art world critique as is so goddamn boring.
Kind of funny horror movie about a guy who trips upon a mysterious Halloween party invitation, goes to the party, and ends up a hostage of murder-crazed artists. Definitely not a good horror film by any means, but has a lot of comedic points. Not one of Magnet's best, though.
