Mutiny on the Bounty was one of those classic films that I had heard of over and over again, but that I had never actually watched... However, after watching it for the first time today I can safely say that I now adore this film! Clark Gable delivers one of the best performances of his career, but the real star of this film is Charles Laughton as the sinister Captain Bligh. Laughton steals every scene that he is in!
One of the best adventure movies ever filmed. It begins as a panegyric for the British Navy, goes on as an ode to Anarchy and ends up as a Bravo to Democracy. I dont' know whether the producers were aware then that Mutiny on the Bounty would mainly stay in our memory because of its anarchical interlude. Charles Laughton and Clark Gable are really great here. Masterpiece.
