    Sometimes a bit too theatrical, Schanelec's first feature and her graduation project is disconcerting mainly because of the passivity of the characters, which reminded me of Ekkehard Knörer's article for Vertigo in which he says that Schanelec's films constantly focus on middle-class people who live adrift in their lives, unable to make decisions that could take them off of their continuous state of melancholy.
