I thought this was "just" a lurid cult curiosity, but to my astonishment this film is a great film – a visually inventive action-revenge spectacle, lush and playful in its filmmaking, and a well-told story in its center. Much, much better than I thought.
A lurid, hyperkinetic, balls-to-the-wall sleazefest. A lysergic wet dream rendered into delirious pop art spectacle. Like the cinematic love-child of Seijun Suzuki and Russ Meyer, but with a few gratuitous castration scenes thrown in for good measure.
