The tone is inconsistent throughout and though Abigail Hardingham scores in a well rounded role the film in the end fails. The directors could have aimed for graphic horror or for satire but miss the mark by not focusing on intent. It has its moments but wears out its welcome fairly early in the runtime. Bears promise for the directorial team.
The slick script, even oozing obscure weirdness from all around, gives us too little besides playing with the sinful idea of a lascivious couple having sex with a dead body who loves to mess with them. (2.5 stars)
At first I thought this movie is a stupid joke, but 'tis really not the case. Overall it has all the tones you need: erotic nuances, lot of amusament, drama and a kinky relationship between two afflicted people. It also employes you in a reflective mood along the span of time.
It wants to be horror, but it's tone is more odd than scary or menacing. It want to be a drama, but the characters aren't written well enough to be investing. It wants to be a comedy, but it's reluctant to embrace its own absurdity. The editing choices are bizarre, the plot derails multiple times, and there's more than a few scenes that go absolutely nowhere. Overall, this film was a chore to get through.
Good movie that manages to take something old (getting over your old girlfriend) and make it fresh and new in an unexpected and gruesome way. I found the acting very solid and the editing and direction was interesting. Storywise the movie stumbles on more than one occassion and reaches a standstill at some points where you wish things to move forward. Still a good blend of drama, black comedy and sort-of-horror.
