No President

Directed by Jack Smith
United States, 1967
Short, Avant-Garde

Mixes B&W footage of Smith’s creatures with old campaign footage of Willkie. The climax of the work appears to be the “auctioning” of the presidential candidate at the convention.

What are people saying?

  • Dale Wittig's rating of the film No President

An innocent babe and future presidential candidate is stolen from his cradle by a pirate and ravaged, or it's his fantasy, but he is surrounded by real vampires who take the form of high society ladies. The black haired and bearded boy eventually grows worthy of being sold on the block and he's declared the nominee for President by the Republican Party. It's all very prettily done.
