There's serious potential here, some very beautiful moments and a pretty jarring ending, but ultimately the the film and its subjects serve no real purpose. Noi is simply an offbeat character with a deadbeat dad in a town with no beat at all. Empty story telling.
We follow an albino as his days drag on dropping out of school, committing petty crimes, and coming to terms with a supportive, yet dysfunctional family. He seeks solitude in a cellar he has found much more fit to call home. Everything changes when one day he finds himself trapped in his cellar, saved from an avalanche that claims his dreams of running away to a tropical island and the lives of everyone he knows.
