It's a bit convoluted, and at times tonally off-putting—something McTiernan would certainly master later on. Yet, Nomads is a horror film built for the cinema with pure creativity of the camera and montage (no gore or litres of blood). Every frame is full of life, there's always something going on, and the viewer is pushed into piecing things on their own. Also, the chase scenes = prelude to McT's action greatness.

  4. Mark Garrett's rating of the film Nomads

A tale of doom that McTiernan gracefully elevates. Some powerful framing, some scary stuff.

  5. Jason Callen's rating of the film Nomads

The writing is pretty bad at times (McTiernan never wrote another of his movies) but the premise is interesting and McTiernan shows flashes of what would make him one of the best action/suspense directors of the late 80s. More interesting than good.

  6. Brian O'blivion's rating of the film Nomads

I really wanted to give this 3 stars, but... it's just too silly.
