A story of two 'imprisonment' brothers, looking for a place to live in peace. It's a quite mysterious and pretty good film for a first feature from Pedro Costa. Semi-darkness shots and vague details on the main plot make the viewer wondering about the reasons for a lot of scenes in the film. However, most of the scenes are straight to the point that Pedro Costa wanted to achieve: no empty spaces between shots.
Pedro Costa's debut is best viewed as a curiosity with stunning black and white cinematography and a handful of inspired moments. The film is let down by poor writing and bizarre tonal shifts, ultimately creating a disjointed effort that remains interesting nonetheless.
