Ratings & Reviews

  1. Bilouaustria's rating of the film Objective, Burma!

If you forget the heavy propaganda and focus on cinematographic elements only, WOW, Walsh shows once again how talented and experienced he is with the camera. Spacing, stagging, editing... It is just impressive to see a filmmaker that masterized each and every part like he did in the forties. The last bit in the dark with japanese attacking the hill is phenomenal : a treat as well as a lesson on how to frame a scene.

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film Objective, Burma!

  3. Hugo Poderoso's rating of the film Objective, Burma!

War set pieces don't get much better than this. The final sequence in the hill is a good precedent of the anonymous and ubiquitous besieger formula of Assault on Precinct 13 and the like (even if the "official" model for that was Rio Bravo).

  4. José Neves's rating of the film Objective, Burma!

    Cinematography by James Wong Howe.

  5. Benjamin's rating of the film Objective, Burma!

The action scènes are very impressive, and the rythm is perfect; the actors too. But to enjoy it, we have to put aside the fact that this propaganda movie is also racist as hell ( listen the false language the "japanese" characters are speaking). Typical for a WW2 movie...

  6. NealEdelstein's rating of the film Objective, Burma!

This film is vastly underrated. This is Flynn's best work and he should have been nominated for an Oscar. Walsh just being his brilliant self.

  7. Erik Gregersen's rating of the film Objective, Burma!

I love the matter of factness, such as when Flynn (great performance) hands his commander the fistful of dog tags and that victory means survival. Also:"What happens if my parachute doesn't work?" "Then you reach the ground first."
