Our take

Drawing inspiration from a Chinese legend, Hong Sang-soo’s fourth feature finds the inimitable auteur consolidating his love for structural rhymes. A film of two halves in which the second wittily echoes the first, this wistful early work is a significant stepping stone towards Hong’s mature style.
