The finest film I know about an orchestral percussionist. I admire the compassion here even for narcissists and cynics.

The feeling of being lost and unsure and having, at the same time, an immense love for the world and the people in it. Such kindness and tenderness.

a powerful slice about a charming rake irresponsible, womanizing, not that talented with a feeling of devastation when all is said and done

  12. 張大智's rating of the film Once Upon a Time There Was a Singing Blackbird

I love this type of film. The events are so spontaneous, so incidental, and maybe even (I hope) put together in the same way. Youthful and raw, restless and energetic. Gia's life is caught on the run. A furious run against his predestined fate; and then.. just when you're starting to get used to his turbulance; the brakes squeal, the crowd builds up.. and you're left to wonder what happens. Perfect.

  13. Slowart's rating of the film Once Upon a Time There Was a Singing Blackbird

perfect example of an eastern bloc youth movie (black peter), the main traits of the genre are lyricism, coping with the absurdity/pointlessness of life and bitter aftertaste, this movie is also filled with beautiful music and is very georgian, lacking (thanks god) later iosseliani's annoying love for drunkards' talk and rivers of wine
