Man has created horrible torture devices, and the 2000's remake of this film is literally a form of torture! I'm surprised to find that this film, and I'm sure this film is much better that the remake, sometime I wonder why old/original films aren't just put back into theatres, I mean to make a bad movie twice should be a crime.
It's as cheesy as you'd expect, but ultimately a pretty entertaining B-picture from Hammer featuring some great vintage special effects from Ray Harryhausen. It also manages a compelling, action-packed plot with virtually no real dialogue. Good fun for cult movie fans.
