5/5 It feels like Daniel Sandu finally brought modernity to Romanian cinema. The movie is expertly crafted, from the cinematography to the costumes, the lighting and the soundtrack choices. While the entire cast is brilliant, Stefan Iancu steals the show. He is a revelation and his scenes with the masterful Vlad Ivanov can attest to that.

3.5/5 A more than decent debut film by Daniel Sandu, offers an authentic perspective on the post-communist theological seminary setting. However, all real life inspired or fictive events are exaggerated, which makes various scenes feel like plastic. The movie introduces certain plot points and leaves them unfinished (e.g Gabriel’s romantic relationship).
